What's there to do on Aitutaki?

Plenty to see, plenty to do.  If your idea of a brilliant break is to keep active, Aitutaki has it all. We're small and compact, so you can take your own sightseeing tour around the island by scooter or cycle. Or for a bit more of the local flavour, hop on one of our organised tours and get the low down on what's going on here. Get out on the lagoon and beyond for diving and fishing, snorkelling, lagoon cruises, watersports, swimming and more.

Tours

Drink in the many beautiful sights of Aitutaki on an organised tour.  Local guides take you through all their favourite spots, telling you the stories of the island as they meander through peaceful villages across the island. Professional tours with an Aitutaki flavour circle the island regularly, taking in the history, culture and everyday life of the Pacific's most friendly people.

Cruises

Run down the white sand beach and splash through the turquoise shallows to board a boat bound for the stunning turquoise waters of Aitutaki lagoon.  Aitutaki offers a range of cruises visiting all the amazing sights of this world famous lagoon.  Tiny uninhabited motus dot the expanse of blue.  Glide by One Foot Island and stop for a snorkel or swim.  Enjoy a fresh fish barbecue and slow down to Island Time. By getting out on to the water, you experience the real Cook Islands. Don't miss it!

Diving

Untouched and pristine, Aitutaki Lagoon's spectacular reef is a diver's dream.  Aitutaki's geological formation over millions of years means there are amazing caves, canyons and walls to explore.  Incredible visibility in crystal clear waters provides divers with unparalleled views of coral, wrecks and an excellent variety of sea life, including sharks.

Fishing

Go deep sea game fishing from Aitutaki and experience a day's worth of first class fishing. Professional, fully equipped game fishing boats provide all you need for a great day out at sea.

Island Shows

The island drums beat, the dancers appear, their eyes alight and their movements in time with the Aitutaki drummers. Adorned with brightly coloured grass skirts, coconut tops, flowers in their hair, the Cook Island dancers are some of the best in the Pacific.

Experience one of the many cultural performances by an Island Dance Group on Aitutaki and feel the ancient rhythms from traditional dances dating back hundreds of years.
