Getting Around

Transport around our lovely island is by bicycle, scooter or car. Or for a bit of exercise and great scenery, you can walk.

To hire a car or scooter and drive it on Aitutaki you need to be sure to purchase a Cook Island driver's license on Rarotonga, before you depart.  These are NZD $10 and give you a great souvenir of your stay in the Cook Islands.  There are two major hire centres on Aitutaki, both with excellent day and weekly rates.

Driving is on the left hand side of the road and a range of vehicles can be hired from local outlets.

Hitch hiking is not encouraged on Aitutaki but if you're in a fix, feel free to hail a ride.
