A Voyage of Discovery

Where are we?

Getting to the island of Aitutaki is a breeze.

Part of the southern group of the Cook Islands, it is officially called a coral atoll.  Just 220 kilometres (160 miles) north of the Cook Island capital, the island is a short 40 minute flight north from Rarotonga.

The Cook Island's national air service, Air Rarotonga, flies to Aitutaki at least three times a day in modern SAAB 340 30-seater aircraft.  Flying out over the Pacific Ocean to arrive beside the Aitutaki lagoon is unbelievable.

The great expanse of the Pacific Ocean lies below you as the plane soars down over a palate of pure blues and greens.

Aitutaki's charming airport awaits with a warm welcome, maybe a coconut milk cocktail and necklace of local flowers (called an ai, pronounced 'eh').
