Snorkelling

The water's warm and clear, the sun's beating down on your sun block and you're kicking your way out across one of the globe's most gorgeous places.

While it can be hard to tear yourself away from the white sand beach and the shade of the coconut palms, snorkelling is great exercise, cools you down and introduces you to a whole new world.

Beneath the sparkling surface of the lagoon, or out beyond the reef, lies a world of fascinating colour and life.  The marine environment in this area of the Pacific is untouched and just waiting for you to explore.

Grab a snorkel and mask, wrestle on some fins (flippers) and you're ready to go.  It's as easy as that. The water's teeming with life, multi-coloured fish are darting in front of you and swimming curiously around your feet.  The colours are amazing -yellows, silvery blues, stripy or polka dotted - it's like an underwater show.  The most natural of aquariums, and you're swimming around in it!

Huge clam shells dot the floor of Aituaki lagoon.  Look out for underwater plant life, watch as great schools of fish fly before you.  Snorkelling is so easy and many hotels and resorts on Aitutaki supply snorkelling gear for free. Why not give it a go?
